Westerfield, Jane Elda Moss, passed away at the age of 92 on June 24, 2013. Her courageous struggle with Alzheimer's for the past six years was inspiring to all who knew her and we take comfort knowing that she is now at peace. Jane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Janet and their two children, Troy and wife Kim and Traci and husband Parker and seven great grandchildren; and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Cliff and their daughter, Kelli. Jane was born in Los Angeles on June 5, 1921. She met her husband of 65 years, Andy, who passed away six years ago, at John C. Fremont high school in L.A. She was in the first 4-year graduating class, earning her degree at The Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. Jane was a school teacher until her children were born and then became a part-time teacher in the Montebello school district. She raised her children in Alhambra, she was very involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts and a philanthropic organization-P.E.O. In 1964-65, the family lived in South Africa due to Andy's business. In 1980, retirement took Jane and Andy to Laguna Niguel where they enjoyed life to the fullest, including travels abroad. Seventeen years ago she had a massive heart attack and 5-way bypass and vowed to walk and stay healthy. Nine years ago they moved to The Covington in Aliso Viejo and soon made many new friends. Up until 2 months ago, she walked daily around the facility and had no health issues. Jane is remembered as the "glue" that kept the family going day-in and day-out. She was a devoted wife and mother and very well respected and admired by all who knew her. |
