Novak, Martin Steven, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1934. He passed away at the VA Hospital, in Phoenix, Ariz., Sept. 19, 2012, at the age of 77. |
After 50 years, in California, Martin moved to Arizona, in 2005, to retire to his ranch and woodshop. He was a true patriot who loved his country, his horses and Arizona. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean Conflict. Marty was a master carpenter, spending many years in the socal boating industry, a musician and a lifelong animal lover. He was a lifetime member of Orange Grove Masonic Lodge #293 F.&A.M., Orange, CA, Aztlan Lodge#1, Prescott, AZ, El Bekal Shrine, Anaheim, CA, Prescott Moose Lodge, and American Legion Post6, Prescott. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; his brother, James R. Novak Sr. (Paula); his sister-in-law Nancy Novak; his daughters, Kathleen Cranston, Amanda Whatley (Joshua) and Mary Kathryn Webb (Todd); his son, Elliot Novak (Tina); 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Martin L. Novak, his mother, Mary E. Novak (Glavich); his brother, Steven J. Novak; and his two sons, Marty Dean Novak and Rory Alan Novak.
His ashes have been laid to rest, in the columbarium, at the Prescott National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to contribute can make a donation, in Marty's name, at www.semperfifund.org, whose mission is to help service members and their families in times of need, or the Wounded Warrior Fund. A local memorial service will be held at the Orange Masonic Temple, 71 Plaza Square, Orange, CA 92866, on Saturday, February 23, 2013 , 11:00am. Reception to follow immediately. All are welcome.
