Sewitsky, Michael,

of Garden Grove, California passed away June 21 at the age of 95. Born in Jessup, PA. he was the oldest of 5 children and the son of immigrants.

During his youth, Mike was a member of the CCC. He was drafted into the Army in 1941, where he became a Captain in the 4th Armored Division. While stationed in Brownwood Texas, he met the prettiest girl in the state (Louise) and asked her to marry him upon discharge. During the war he was in the Battle of the Bulge and served as a tank commander. Upon leaving the service, he married Louise and started working for the National Cash Register Corporation, having always had a mechanical aptitude. He and his wife moved to Pomona, California, and became a branch manager for NCR.

Mike retired after 36 years with NCR, and enjoyed a lifelong membership in the Elks Club, is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and has been known to don a hula skirt and dance from time to time. He is survived by the following children: Ann McCleary of Asheville, N.C., Michael Sewitsky of Jacksonville, OR., Mark Sewitsky of Svelvik, Norway, Alicia Wood of Redlands, CA, Gary Sewitsky of Jefferson City, TN, Jon Sewitsky of Trabuco Canyon, CA, David Sewitsky of Murrieta, CA.

Mike also has 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all.

The family will receive friends at Dimond & Shannon Mortuary Wed. June 27 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Barbara's Catholic Church Thursday, June 28 at 12:30 p.m.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress CA, immediately following services. Dimond & Shannon Mortuary
