ROBERT WACHTLER Obituary
Wachtler, Robert R.,

of Balboa Island, a loving grandfather, father, uncle, and husband, passed away October 1, 2012 .

Bob was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 5, 1919. He was a decorated WWII Army veteran including a Purple Heart earned during his service in the Pacific. In 1948 he moved to Southern California with his wife "Toots" and their son Robert Jr. After arriving in California his family grew to include daughters Sandra and Candyce. After the war, he continued to serve others with a career as a civilian firefighter for the federal government, retiring in 1970. Bob was a man of many talents. After moving to California, and while working as a fireman, he started an income tax business which continues to be in existence today. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, supporting his family's endeavors and a passion for USC football. His wife Toots passed away on September 30, 1990. He is survived by his son, Robert R Wachtler Jr.; daughters, Sandra Monahan and Candyce Johnson; grandchildren, Megan Wachtler Brenner, Matthew Monahan, Bailey Monahan and Casey Johnson and great-grandsons, Kyle Brenner, Carson Brenner, and Aryaz Paymard. A service will be held Dec 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church on Balboa Island. We welcome all of Bobs' friends. Reception will follow at his home, 230 Pearl Avenue.
