Yohr, Robert

August 26, 1924 - January 25, 2013

Robert John Yohr was born August 26, 1924 in Nasawauby, Wisconsin. He was one of two children born to his parents, Arthur Yohr and Josephine Braun. Robert grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin.

At the age of 19, Robert entered the military service and served in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge under the direction of General Patton, and received a good conduct medal, as well as an expert combat infantry badge. He served until 1946, when he was honorably discharged to come home and care for his mother who was terminally ill.

Following the end of his military service, Robert attended college at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, and received a degree in Business Administration in June of 1949. In 1958, he met his wife Celia, and they were married on November 4, 1961, in Santa Barbara, California. In 1963 Bob's employment with Goodyear transferred them to El Paso, Texas. One year later they were transferred back to the Los Angeles area where they settled in Huntington Beach.

While living in Huntington Beach, Bob and Celia's two sons were born, Robert Jr in 1966 and Richard in 1968. In 1979, Goodyear again transferred the family, this time to Topeka, Kansas. Bob continued working for Goodyear until retiring in 1990. Celia worked as a psychiatric nurse at Topeka State Hospital until her retirement in 1995, at which time they returned back to Huntington Beach.

Bob and Celia joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in 1997 where they became active supporters of the church community. Celia passed away in December of 1999. Bob remained in Huntington Beach and remained an active member of the church

Surviving Robert are his two sons, Robert Jr and his wife Monte Kay of Olathe, KS, and Richard and his wife Kristi of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Jackson and Grayson of Olathe, KS and Jacob, Hannah. Rebekah, and Mary Beth of Houston, TX

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 31,2013 at Heritage Memorial Services at 17712 Beach Blvd Huntington Beach, CA from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held on February 1, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 16351 Springdale St Huntington Beach, CA at 10:00am.
