ROLAND FRITZ "PINEAPPLE" BLACKISTON Obituary
Blackiston, Roland "Pineapple" Fritz

8/20/1948-6/2/2014

Roland was a warrior and was truly the most interesting man alive. He was a son, brother, and father. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, he graduated from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu in 1966. He started his next adventure by moving to California to go to Fullerton Junior College and by getting married and having two beautiful children, Roland III and Sondra in the late 60's and early 70's. The 70's were a decade of disco, bear wrestling, driving to Central America, playing rugby, and traveling to all of 48 contiguous states in the U.S.A while driving in the famous "Red Van". The 80's brought in the mastering of martial arts, more travel, the "Lonesome" Thursday Thanksgivings and the start of the famous luaus. The 90's saw him going back to college at Cypress Community College to earn his nursing degree and becoming a swing dancer. The 2000's were brought in by being the "gopher king" of Orange County and the last great adventure of fulfilling a dream of living in the islands again by carving his land out of the jungles of Pahoa and building his home. By 2010, he was dedicated to travelling around the world from Southeast Asia to South America and Europe. He always had a smile on his face. If you were his friend, you were family. Not only did he know you, he knew your whole family. He lived his life the way he wanted and never compromised his standards. The stories from his life are legendary.

Memorial services to be hosted at the Elks Club in Buena Park on July 19, 2014 starting at 3:00 pm.
