SALLY HANES KRUMMENACHER

Obituary Condolences

Krummenacher, Sally Hanes, died February 5, 2013 with her two daughters, Anne and Beth at her side. Victor, her loving husband of over 60 years, passed away in 2009. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her beloved cat and companion, Simba.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 13, 1927, Sally attended Butler University for two years. There she met her husband, Victor Krummenacher, who was then attending Purdue University. They were married December 11, 1948.

Victor and Sally moved to their first home in Wyckoff, New Jersey in 1954. There Sally was active in the Village Players, and in the Episcopalian Church of the Good Sheppard.

In 1964 the family moved to Yorba Linda, California, where she first became involved in municipal politics. She was a founding member of the Committee to Incorporate Yorba Linda. When she moved to Coronado, California in 1974, her dedication to her community continued. She was active in zoning and planning issues, and served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Coronado. She fought for the preservation of the coastline and was instrumental in the adoption of TOZ, the Tidelands Overlay Zone. The creation of Centennial Park and the view corridor from Orange Avenue was the direct result of these efforts. As of her death she was still involved with maintaining the legacy of the park, opposing a flag pole which if approved will obstruct the view.

Sally touched everyone she encountered and will be remembered for her humor, wit and infectious laugh.

Memorial services will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to PAWS Coronado.
