What a grand embrace we all had as children of the Palm Drive, Piedmont neighborhood kiddos! The Blewett Family was one of the favorite homes to visit as kids growing up in a location where it was safe, fun and full of visiting each others houses knowing the parental embrace would include cookies, direction, oversight and guidelines which kept us fortified thru those growing years! The Blewett House was guided by a father and mother whom we all loved, respected and looked forward to be greeted by... I feel so blessed to have known your Patriarch and your Great Mother, and blessed to have been as a welcomed little one in you household, Always! I remember a few lessons he shared with me, and, I was thankful for his kind leadership and advise as a little one embraced by his leadership... My Heart to you all in this earthly loss... Papa John lives in all of us.. but especially in YOU.. My Condolences to the family. My rejoice in knowing that we shall all be reunited in the ever-after.. And, we know, He shall look upon you and be with YOU ALL everyday until then.. xo H.

To the BLEWETT FAMILY:
Please know of our sincere prayerful sympathy on the passing of "Latin Mass Magazine" editor and longtime Roman Catholic advocate JOHN W. BLEWETT.

JOHN set the pace for many of us with his ardent defense and promotion of the LATIN MASS in national and international Catholic venues--and his dedicated support was pivotal for the restoration of the Latin Liturgy in the mainstream Roman Catholic Church when the Ecclesia Dei motu proprio was implemented with some success in the United States and elsewhere in North America.(His journalistic efforts and advocacy greatly contributed to this success).

JOHN's steadfast advocacy of the Latin Mass and Liturgy helped promote its positive resurgence in the worldwide Roman Catholic Church among clergy and lay supporters alike--as well as offering a reasoned defense to other Catholic and non-Catholic publics that had limited knowledge of this liturgical sphere.

He will truly be missed by many of us who value the Latin Mass in the Roman Catholic Church worldwide in both the Ordinary and Extraordinary forms.

I will be privileged to offer a "Novus Ordo" Latin Mass for JOHN's happy repose at our regular Sunday "Novus Ordo" Latin Mass at HISTORIC ST. MARY of VICTORIES CHURCH in St. Louis, MO, founded in 1843.

Old St. Mary's is the home of the "Novus Ordo" Latin Mass in the City and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Our beautiful and historic church, listed on the National Registe rof Historic Places, regularly offers this form of the Latin Mass to the Catholic faithful in this region of the Midwest.

May God Grant Eternal Rest to JOHN, and may he be in the good company of the Angels and Saints in Heaven! Our parishioners, supporters and I will remember him in our prayers. REQUIESCAT in PACE, JOHN W. BLEWETT.

Sincerely in Our Lord,
REV. BRIAN HARRISON, O.S.

Yes, dear Mrs. Blewett and Family, Susie and I & the Lloyd Children shall not forget Good John, foremost in our prayers. We are all the richer, the saner in Faith for having known him, having received from the abundance of his merits & goodness in Christ. My Dad was especially deeply saddened by the news of John's transitus. We shall ask our missionary Priest-friends to remember John at the Altar.

To Barb and the rest of the Blewett clan, so sorry to hear the news that John has been called back Home. I have great memories of sharing Thanksgiving dinners with the Blewett family and the basketball games that John, my son Kevin and I would enjoy in our "younger" days. I look forward to meeting him some day behind the Pearly Gates for another hoops game! May God Bless all the Blewett's.

John Blewett stands out as someone who made an effort to make me feel welcome when we moved to Santa Paula. My husband played basketball with him, but I remember him most for coming to his grandsons' basketball & baseball games to cheer for them (and our sons). May God bless him and our prayers are for his soul and for the comfort of his family.
