Hawthorne, Betty Ann DykesBetty Ann Dykes Hawthorne, a lifelong resident of Lake County (Tavares, Mt. Dora) passed away Wed. Sept. 11, 2013. Born Feb. 2, 1931 in Washington D.C., she is a graduate of Tavares High School class of 1949 and received her BS in Physical Education with Honors from the Univ of Florida in 1953. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Auburn University in 1957. She is a retired Lake County school teacher. Betty was a professional Psychic Educator. Known as "Suzanne" she hosted monthly radio shows at radio stations in Melbourne and Gainesville, FL for the past 20 years. She is survived by her four children, Blaine, Brian, Heather and Hollie Hawthorne Wiggins; brother Herman T. Dykes Jr.; 16 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Sun. Sept. 29 from 3-6pm at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E Caroline St., Tavares FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tavares High School, 603 N. New Hampshire Ave, Tavares, FL 32778; Attn: Betty Hawthorne Scholarship Fund.
