Donald M. Bisplinghoff Notice
BISPLINGHOFF, DONALD M., 77, passed away peacefully in his home on November 21, 2012. Mr. Bisplinghoff was born in Winter Park, FL on February 20, 1935 and is survived by his sister Mary; 5 children Ann (Keith) Satterfield, Don Jr. (Alexis), Lyn Cole, Bob (Marty), and Dave; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife,
Cynthia, his mother and father Henry and Alma, his sister Betty Jean Sahina and his brother Henry S. Jr. Mr. Bisplinghoff was an accomplished amateur golfer winning tournaments throughout the United States including the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 1952, the North South Championship in 1955 as well as the Florida Open and the Florida Amateur later that year. After his North South win he traveled to Europe where he lost in the quarter finals of the British Amateur and was runner up in the French Amateur. His performances in 1955 gained him an invitation into the 1956 Masters Tournament. He played golf at the University of Florida and met his wife of 42 years while she was a score keeper for him at one of his tournaments. She was also a golfer who played for Southern Methodist University. He went on to own and operate a successful wire business with his father and later with his son, Don Jr. who continues the business today. Mr. Bisplinghoff will be missed by all family and friends as well as the members of Hidden Hills Country Club where he has been a member since 1965. All friends, family and acquaintances are invited to attend the celebration of his life on December 5, 2012 at Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211 at 11:00 am with a reception following at Hidden Hills Country Club, 3901 Monument Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225. The family requests donations be made to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, 3599 University S. Blvd. Ste., 300 Jacksonville, FL 32216.
