Helen Heid Notice
Heid, Helen Wife, Mother, Church Lady, Grammarian Helen Heid was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Winter Park in 1958 with her husband Bob Sr., daughter Debbie and son Bob Jr. Soon after arriving in Winter Park, Helen became a member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she joined the church's Altar Guild, serving faithfully for the next 50 years. During her tenure at All Saints, Helen proudly claims to have trained two bishops and many priests. Helen became Mrs. Robert L. Heid in 1950 and soon graduated from Ohio State University in 1951 with a degree in English literature. One of her favorite jobs was as a teacher of English at Apopka High School. Helen always insisted on perfection in both the spoken and written word, correcting members of her family, eventually turning them into soldiers in her war on illiteracy. Helen also loved to travel. She visited parts of Europe, most of the US and the British Isles; every place being better for having had her there. She most often traveled with members of THE BRIDGE CLUB, friends with whom she played for nearly 50 years. Helen also found time to give back. She and her knitting guild literally created hundreds of hats for the newborns. Helen died peacefully in her sleep on June 7th, 2014 leaving behind her husband of 63 years Bob Sr., her daughter Debbie with her husband Joel, and her son Bob Jr. with his wife Liz, granddaughter Erin with her husband Josh, grandson Jon with great-grandson Jaxson, and her sister Ruth. There will be a memorial service at All Saints Episcopal Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all those who cared for her do a random act of kindness for a stranger.
