Joseph E. "Jef" Farley Notice
Farley, Joseph EJef59, passed away suddenly on September 6, 2013. Jef was born to Jean Posselius Farley and Joseph William Farley on March 31, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Tulane University and LSU and was in the Navy R.O.T.C. Jef met Lena while living in New Orleans and together they moved to Maitland, FL and started "Professional Tree Care, Inc." in 1984. Jef volunteered for the Maitland Public Library and Leu Gardens. He was a first responder with the Maitland Fire Dept. and was also active at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey. He was the acting President of the Maitland Historical Society for many years and won several awards for selfless dedication. He was also the recipient of the "Northam Executive Director's Award" in 2003 at the Maitland Chamber of Commerce. He had a huge heart and would silently help many people and animals. Jef leaves behind his wife Lena Agresta Farley, his brother Michael Farley (Mary) of Detroit, Michigan, (nephew Andrew and niece Carey) and sister Kitty Farley (Vic) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Corporal Larry E. Smedley National Vietnam War Museum (3400 N Tanner Rd. Orlando) on Sunday October 6 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made on Jef's behalf to the Vietnam War Museum (PO Box 781805, Orlando, FL 32878)
