Olwyn Busby Notice
Busby, Olwyn Olwyn Jean Busby, 86, passed away April 8, 2014 in Orlando, FL. Olwyn, whose name means "White Rose," was the eighth of nine children and was born on June 16, 1927 in a small village in Wales, United Kingdom to the late John Richard and Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Burnett. Always an adventurer, Olwyn came to the United States at the tender age of sixteen as a World War II bride, originally settling in Boston, MA with her first husband, John B. Lynch, Sr. A decade later, during Orlando's construction boom of the 1950's, the family relocated to Central Florida. Having never known a stranger, Olwyn became instantly engaged in the community, first working in the St. Charles Catholic Church Rectory and later as a driver for Orlando's School for the Deaf. Following the death of her first love, Olwyn vowed never to remarry - that is, until she met "Goldy" (Norman "Buzz" Busby), with whom she spent thirty-nine joy-filled years. A woman who loved music, dancing and the USA, Olwyn and Buzz were active members of both VFW Post 2093 and American Legion Orlando Memorial Post 19. Mrs. Busby's friendships spanned generations and her home was ever alight with energy, good friends, food and laughter - a testament to her character. Her loves and greatest joys included: the men in her life, her family, her pets, laughter, sparkly earrings and ice cold Miller Lite. She is survived by her grandchildren: Alison C. Lynch of Nashville, TN; Melissa Whiteley and family of Leesburg, VA; Jud Lynch and family of Alexandria, VA; C. Andrew Collette and family of Moss Point, MS; and, W. David Collette and family of Fruitland Park, FL; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including Moira and Brian Bancroft of Pontypool, Wales, UK; and her beloved dachshund, Oscar. Olwyn was predeceased in death by her son, John B. Lynch, Jr.; her husbands, John B. Lynch, Sr. and Norman R. Busby; and her eight siblings. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care and constant attention provided to Olwyn in her final months, including but certainly not limited to: her niece and goddaughter Joyce Craig and husband David of Titusville, FL; her niece Patricia Andrews and husband Paul of Heathrow, FL; and her dear friend, Tracy Cassidy of Lynn Haven, FL. Additionally, we are eternally grateful for the respect, attention and fun provided to Olwyn by the staff at Plantation Oaks Senior Living and later the respect, attention and loving care provided during her last days at Vitas Palliative and Hospice Care. Services will be held at Baldwin Fairchild, West Altamonte Chapel, 90 Weathersfield Ave. in Altamonte Springs on Monday, April 14; visitation begins at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Florida Dachshund Rescue (http://fldr.org/) or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2093 (https://sites.google.com/site/vfwpost2093theactionpost/). Good night, dear; God bless.
