Peacefully on May 1st, 2014 at The Perley & Rideau Veterans Health Center in his 92nd year surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Devitt) of 71 years. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Brenda (Michael) Diamond, loving grandpa to Jessica and Emily and loving brother to Marjorie. He was predeceased by his parents Ford and Annie (nee Armstrong), his siblings George, Lillian, Albert (Phyllis), Bill (Muriel), Gibson (Helen) and Myrtle ( Howard). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Dr. McKeown spent 36 years working in the department of agriculture and retired as Chief of Brucellosis eradication. The family wishes to thank Dr.Tobin, Dr. Hamilton, head nurses Debbie and Kim and all the wonderful caregivers at The Perley & Rideau Veterans Health Center for their kindness and compassion. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry , 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Wednesday May 7th from 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday in the Chapel at 11am. Donations to the Alzheimer Society and The Perley & Rideau Veterans Health Center would be appreciated.
