POTVIN, Joseph Paul Emile, CD
On Saturday, May 25, 2013, surrounded by the comfort and love of his family ,following a brief illness, but after a long and fulfilling life, at age 82. Loving husband of Marie (Dumouchel) for 61 years. Dearest father of daughters Catherine, Joann Rooke, Denise Beauvais (Jim Polifroni) and Janice (Michel Saulnier). Extraordinary grandfather of Brandon and Lee Rooke and Bryce and Breann Saulnier. Dear brother-in-law of Irene and Lumina Dumouchel, Louise (Jacques Huppé), the late Patricia (Maurice Miller) and the late Paul Dumouchel. Predeceased by his caring foster parents Honoré and Aldea Bertrand. Eternally grateful to foster brothers Edgar Bertrand (Lucille) and the late Leo Bertrand. Paul joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 18 and proudly served his country for 27 years including service in the Korean War. Following retirement from the Navy, Paul joined the RCMP as a special constable assigned to Parliament Hill. Shortly thereafter, he transitioned to the House of Commons Security Services and was later appointed Assistant Deputy Sergeant-at- Arms before retiring in 1994. Paul's golden years were filled with cherished family gatherings and the love of his grandchildren who kept him young at heart. There are no words to describe the level of devotion and commitment to family that Paul lived by. Our loss is immeasurable. At Paul's request, a private family service will be held. For those wishing, donations may be made to one of Paul's chosen charities, The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation or The University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
