It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ron McAskill, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the age of 83. Born June 3, 1930 in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick to the late Charles and Helen McAskill (nee Giberson). Ron married the late Jean (nee Jean-Louis) in the early 1960s.
Ron served in the Canadian Armed Forces from April 14, 1949 until his retirement on October 31, 1972. Ron was the beloved and caring step-father to the late Connie (Maurice), Betty (Victor), Charles Jr. "Buzzy" (Louise), Peter (Nancy) and the late Walter Thompson. He was a proud and loving step- grandfather, great-grandfather and great- great-grandfather to many; cherished brother-in-law to Elsie Semple (Tom) and devoted godfather to Patricia Thompson. He will be sadly missed by many extended relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, with Interment to follow. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Perley & Rideau Veterans' Centre Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
