October 15, 1930 - December 2, 2012
Died peacefully at age 82 after a lengthy illness. Married for 58 years to his beloved wife Lisa (Betty), nee Guenard. Loving father of Mark (Marlene), Deane (Elaine) and Deborah (John). He will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Emily, Robynn, Jesse, Mitchell, Patrick and Kaitlin. He will be deeply missed by his brother Sandy (Mary) of Cowansville, PQ, and family. He is predeceased by his father Sidney and mother Miriam of Adamsville, PQ, and dear grandson Peter of Kars, ON. Many thanks to the special people at West End Villa long term care centre in Ottawa.
Bob enjoyed a long and very successful career in journalism. After graduating from Sir George Williams University in Montreal in 1952, he began his career with Canadian Dow Jones as a reporter. He wrote for the newswire and The Wall Street Journal, and became Managing Editor of Canadian Dow Jones. In 1979 he joined Reader's Digest in Montreal and rose to the position of Managing Editor of the Canadian edition.
Bob was a kind and loving family man whose gentleness and patience will always be remembered. He had a warm sense of humour and a talent for clever (and occasionally corny) puns. He was a good man, liked and respected by all who knew him.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral service. His cremated remains will be brought "home" to the Eastern Townships in the spring of 2013. A fond and friendly memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Farnham, P.Q.
