Chuck Trombley was a long-time resident of Woodland Park. He was born in Lansing, Mich. to William and Henrietta Trombley. He joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor at age 17. Upon returning home he earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University.
He worked in research and development of truck engines, chassis and sales in the commercial truck industry. Upon retirement he remained active.
He was the maintenance manager of the Meadows Apts., where his hard work earned the city's Beautification Award. In addition, he volunteered at Gateway Elementary School. He was a dedicated presence on the playground and an integral part of the character education committee. For many years his sign "Do Good Work" hung in the hall.
When not spending time with his family, he and his wife Phyllis enjoyed the Woodland Park Senior Center.
Mr.Trombley is survived by his daughters Barbara Wakefield and Patty Kulas-George (Bill); granddaughters Melissa Shankles (Dan), Laurie Remmer (Randy) and Katie Kulas; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, granddaughter Robyn and his brother Bill.
A private ceremony was held at Woodland Park Cemetery Oct. 5. He will truly be missed; however, in the words of Chuck, "Keep on Keepin' On."
