Charles Patterson Jr., 93, of Midland, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2014, at Sterling House. He was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Lapeer, son of the late Charles Sr., and Mattie (Grosbeck) Patterson.
Charles served with the U.S. Army during World War II
in the Philippines where he received the Purple Heart
. When he got home from the service, he drove for Greyhound bus service, retiring after 41 years of service. Charles lived in Winter Springs, Fla. after moving south, where he made friends with a lovely lady, Betty Bates. Charles was a devoted Presbyterian and enjoyed people.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard L. (Kathleen) Patterson from Tullahoma, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Thomas E.) Clark of Sanford; four grandchildren, Laura and Jacques Looch of Manchester, Tenn., Jim and Tammie Patterson of War Trace, Tenn., Jason Cook of Midland and Chandra and Brad Bromley of Midland; five great-grandchildren, Justus Looch, Ryan and Rachelle Patterson of War Trace, Tenn., Zachery Bromley of Midland and Meghann Patterson of Virginia.
In keeping with Charles' wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors. www.waresmithwoolever.com
