Charlotte E. McDaniel, 88, of Bay City, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Auburn Heights Senior Care, Auburn. She was born on Jan. 21, 1925, in Manistee, to the late W. Arthur and Mary (Ray) Tobey. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. McDaniel, on Aug. 17, 1988.
Surviving are Charlotte's three children, Greg McDaniel, Paul (Heidi) McDaniel of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lisa Coleman of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Kelli (Greg) Williams, Lindsay (Brian) Flatter, Valerie McDaniel, Holly McDaniel, Melissa Coleman, Jeremy Coleman, and Tiffany Coleman; five great-grandchildren, Jamarion, Devontea, Natalie, Sedona, and Finnian; three sisters and a brother, Mary Louise Wilson, Barbara (Jim) Ostler, Robert (Ruth) Tobey, and Jane (Pete) Synnestvedt.
Charlotte graduated from Michigan State University
with a degree in education. She worked many years in education, including 18 years full time as a teacher's aid at Port Charlotte High School in Port Charlotte, Fla. She retired at age 82. She moved to Midland after retirement and belonged to Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland and sang in the choir there.
Charlotte had many interests in the arts, including music, ceramics, and calligraphy. She was co-owner of the Potter's Wheel store in Bay City for many years. After moving to Florida in 1985, she played the organ at her church, played the cello in two orchestras and also played in a string quartet. She loved to listen to classical music in her few off hours.
The family would like to say thanks to the wonderful people at Auburn Heights Senior Care. The love and compassion everyone showed Charlotte during her stay there was incredible.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 11 a.m., in St. Boniface Church. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Bill Gruden will preside. Memorials may be directed to the
