The Guest Book is expired.

The Lord took His child, Dale R. Anderson, 82, of Auburn, to be with him forever on Jan. 1, 2013. He was born at home in Bay County on Oct. 20, 1930, to Martin C. and Alice M. (Peoples) Anderson.

The family subsequently moved to Midland in January 1936. Dale attended Midland Community Schools at Carpenter Street, McGill and graduated from Midland High School in 1949. In 1950, he started employment with The Dow Chemical Co. He was hired into the plastics department in Building 433, where he spent his entire career. He worked at many different jobs over the years, retiring as a senior shipping coordinator for plastics. He retired from Dow on March 31, 1995, after 45 years (and one week). At the beginning of his work career, Dale was called upon to serve his country for two years in the U.S. Army. During this time he was selected to join the Army Security Agency and spent the last year of his service in Japan. He was honorably discharged in October 1953.

On August 13, 1955, Dale married the love of his life, Barbara Janet Burnham of Gratiot County, at the Midland First United Methodist Church. In June 1957, Dale and Barb moved to Auburn where they raised three children and still reside. Dale was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church since 1957.

In addition to his wife, Barb, Dale is survived by daughter, Diane (Kevin) Schnettler of Bay City; son, Duke (Yvonne) Anderson of Hillsdale, and son Eric (Lisa) Anderson of Midland. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Victor, Lorelei, Vincent, Brennen, Cameron, Emily, Hope and Jordan; as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Nagle of Midland; sister-in-law, Dawn Burnham of St. Johns; and brother-in-law, William Burnham of Perrinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Jeane and Lyna Burnham; and brothers, Merlin, Elmer, William and Kenneth.

Dale was a great people person, enjoyed life to its fullest, and his delightful sense of humor touched many a heart. In his younger years, he loved playing baseball, softball, basketball, bowling and golf. In later life, walking was a joy for him. He put many miles on many pairs of walking shoes.

Cremation has already taken place as Dale wished. Burial will be at the church's memorial garden at a later date for immediate family members.

Dale's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and also at the Auburn United Methodist Church, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Duane M Harris will officiate, followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, envelopes will be provided for the Auburn United Methodist Church.
