Donna Peloquin (Muessig) Keyser, 83, of Sanford, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at MidMichigan Stratford Village after a brief illness. She was born on May 23, 1930 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Alvin and Helen (Fahnenstiel) Peloquin. She attended Saginaw Schools, graduating in 1948 from Arthur Hill High School, lettering in volleyball, baseball and basketball.
The former Donna Peloquin married Thomas Keyser in 1960 in Angola, Ind. He preceded her death on Oct. 10, 2012. Donna loved bowling, dancing and playing the accordion, and she enjoyed watching the Great Lakes Loons baseball team and visiting her favorite local restaurants. Donna worked for Consumers Energy, retiring in 1985 as executive secretary. She was president of the C.P. employee's club, had served as president of the board of directors of the C.P. Credit Union, and was editor and past copywriter of the Saginaw C.P. employee newsletter, the Valley Voice.
She was a member of the Midland Area Shrine Club, the VFW
ladies auxiliary Saginaw Post #1556, the ladies Elfkhurafeh Shriners, ladies auxiliary Arab patrol and the Sanford American Legion Post #443 ladies auxiliary.
Donna volunteered for 18 years at the MidMichigan Medical Center, as chairwoman of the Ambassador Program. Anyone who knew Donna, will remember her as a woman who never left home without her "country rose" lipstick on.
Donna was especially close and will be deeply missed by her grandsons, Jason Lyons and Steven Lyons. She frequently spoke of how she was so proud of them and always looked forward to their "luncheon dates."
Donna is survived by one daughter, Cyndi (Muessig-Lyons) and Travis Flemming of Midland; step-daughters, LouAnn (Richard) DeVoogd of Florida, Sandra (Gus) Patterson of Saginaw; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Sexton of Garland, Texas; one brother, William Peloquin of Portland, MI.
Per Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place and Donna's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider MidMichigan Home Care Hospice or Shriners children's hospital. www.waresmithwoolever.com
