Jack M. Rittmaier, 85, of Midland, died Saturday evening, Oct. 5, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Ann Arbor, son of the late Harold and Cora (Brown) Rittmaier. Jack had worked construction and was a painter. He served with the U.S. Air Force
during World War II
Jack married the former Loretta Roberson on Feb. 14, 1992, in Midland. He enjoyed going to Bingo, watching westerns, keeping his car spotless, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife, Loretta; children, Marlin (Glenda) Rittmaier of Grand Rapids, Darrell (Emma) Rittmaier, Rick (Liane) Rittmaier, Byron Rittmaier and special friend Ruth, Greg (Becky) Rittmaier, Loren Rittmaier, and Angela Ridenour and friend John, all of Midland. Also surviving are stepchildren, Linda (Ted) Edwards of Rhodes, Carolyn Toner of Midland, Judy (Gary) Rockport of Texas, Lois (Leslie) Novak of Midland, Debbra (Tyrone) Woods of Tulsa, Okla., and Yvonne (Leonard) Eastman of Midland; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one son, Barry Lynn.
Funeral services for Jack will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Pastor Fred Becknell and Pastor Mark Beers of the Midland Mission Church will officiate, with graveside burial rites in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Jack's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
