Michael C. Leydorf, 67, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Midland.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 12 p.m. Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison. Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie.

Mike was born in Owosso, on Nov. 16, 1946, the son of Elmer John and Maxine Ruth (Barker) Leydorf. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1964. He then attended Michigan State University and received his bachelor's degree. He received his master's degree from Central Michigan University.

On June 17, 1967, he married Rosemary Saxton in Bannister. Mike's service to his country spanned 23 years, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. His final U.S. Air Force assignment was Deputy Commander for Operations, 6th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Eielson AFB, Alaska.

After his retirement he went to work for First of Michigan, then Hilliard Lyons Brokerage Firm in Midland. He enjoyed flying, fishing, boating, gardening, family and friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Midland and a member of the Bannister United Methodist Church.

Mike is survived by his wife, Rosemary Leydorf of Beaverton; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kelly Leydorf of Midland; his two grandchildren, Reece and Cole Leydorf; mother, Maxine Leydorf-Tufford; sister-in-law, Kathy Leydorf-Keck and Roger Keck; and many friends and family. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Elmer; and brother, Jeff Leydorf.
