Priscilla G. Reed, 88, of Midland and Naples, Fla., passed away Feb. 6, 2014. Priscilla was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Detroit, daughter of Hiram and Sarah Godwin. Priscilla married Midland native, Earl R. Reed, Aug. 7, 1948. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1978.

Priscilla graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in art education. She taught in the Detroit and Midland Public Schools and taught Sunday school at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland for many years.

Priscilla was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an artist, who enriched lives of friends and family with pottery, weavings and paintings. She did not allow the effects of Polio limit her. Priscilla treasured her independence and mobility and enjoyed activities over the years such as camping, traveling, participating in church groups, Weaver's Guild of Midland, Girl Scouting, painting, sketching, weaving, gardening and identifying wildflowers. Priscilla enjoyed and enhanced the beauty she found in the world.

Surviving are all her children and their spouses, Rebecca (Edward Ream) of Madison, Wis., Nancy (Kirk Yarina) of Tapiola, Susan (Neil Schoof) of Chicago, Ill. and Raymond (Julie Greminger) of Sammamish, Wash. She was also tremendously proud of her nine grandchildren, James Ream (Madison, Wis.), Linda Ream (Seattle, Wash.), Tamasin (Martin) Adams (Baku, Azerbaijan), Elizabeth Yarina (Boston, Mass.), Carolyn Yarina (Grand Rapids), Sydney Schoof (Bloomington, Ind.), Patrick Schoof (Chicago, Ill.) and Evan and Jordan Reed (Sammamish, Wash.). Their studies and endeavors have taken them to all corners of the world. Her welcome-to-heaven crowd includes not only her parents and husband, but also her sister, Ruth and her husband Gene Goellner; her brother, Hiram and his wife Lillian; another brother, Horace; and at least two cats, Silver and Midnight.

Priscilla's family invites friends to stop by her home, Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens. Priscilla's family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Arrangements for Priscilla were entrusted to the care of Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home.
