Richard H. Hoover, 80, of Midland, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his home after an illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Midland, son of the late Harry and Lena (Perry) Hoover. He attended Midland schools.
Richard worked for the City of Midland and Dryer Brothers Construction. He served with the U.S. Army
during the Korean Conflict
. Richard was a member of the Midland V.F.W
. Post #3651 and a lifetime member of the Midland Eagles Aerie 2110. Richard enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia (John) Seeburger of Midland; two sons, Jerry (Kim) Hoover and Steve (Penny) Hoover all of Midland; two sisters, Lilian (Tom) Falkowski of Midland and Vivian Gutchak of Midland; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and the families of Beatrice Case and Evelyn Dice. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Eugene, and Dale; and by four sisters, Marian "Joy" Ross, Joyce Weaver, Genevieve Bell and Rose Lockwood; and by special friends, Beatrice Case and Evelyn Dice.
Richard's family would like to give a special thanks to his caregiver, Rachel, from Midland County Senior Services and Bilye, from Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services for Richard will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Chaplain Doug Bassett will officiate. Richard's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
