Wayne Stimpson Winchell, 91, of Hemlock, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Covenant-Cooper. The son of the late Roy and Margaret (Stimpson) Winchell was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Freeland. He married Violet L. Scoles on Aug. 15, 1942. She passed away Dec. 26, 2007.

Wayne attended Michigan State University, and was employed as an automobile salesman, retiring from Martin Chevrolet with over 20 years of service.

He was a member of Nelson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.

Surviving are three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Marc and Gail Winchell, Ross and Kim Winchell, Brian Winchell, Cathlene and Terry Daley, Christene and Leon LaRue; four grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Brian Montini, Lisa and Matt Clark, Kelly and Diego Flores, Amy Winchell; five great-grandchildren, Tobin and Riley Clark, Noah and Zoe Montini, Tomas Flores; a sister and two brothers and their wives, Marjorie Krueger, Keith and Mary Lou Winchell, Grant and Paula Winchell; a sister-in-law and her husband, Ann and Bill Craft; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Bruce Winchell, has preceded Wayne in death.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. The Rev. Jerry Densmore will officiate, with burial in Tittabawassee Twp. Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Chapel from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, and on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
