SGT. 1ST CLASS JEFFREY C. BAKER Obituary
SGT. 1ST CLASS JEFFREY C. BAKER Age 29, of Hesperia, Calif., died May 14, 2013 in Senjaray, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to 766th Ordnance Company of Fort Stewart, Ga. Sgt. 1st Class Baker, an explosive ordnance disposal specialist, joined the Army in October 2004. He was on his second deployment. Among his awards were the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals, both posthumous. He is survived by his adoring wife Vicki and his daughter Audrey. Though he died a hero attempting to help his fellow soldiers, it is important to note that he also lived a hero. He traveled the globe and made friends wherever he went. He never hesitated to help anyone in need and enjoyed mentoring anyone willing to learn. The strength of his character and qualities of humor and kindness will be remembered. This world that he loved and got to know so well will never be the same. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 6115 Arlington Ave., Riverside, California 92504. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside California 92518. Donations in Sergeant First Class Jeffrey C.
