James H. Rupert Obituary
JAMES H. RUPERT December 21, 1932 - June 7, 2013 Always quick with a joke, broad smile and welcome wisdom, James H. Rupert was surrounded by his loving family when he died at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Murrieta, on June 7. He was 80 years old. Jim was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Homer and Hildur Rupert in 1932. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War before pursuing a successful career in aerospace. A graduate of Northrop University Institute of Technology, Jim worked for Rockwell International, Rocketdyne Division for 35 years, along the way acquiring the nickname "Rocket Man." It was while working for Rocketdyne in San Diego that Jim met Lynne Wilson, who soon after became his wife. They moved to Simi Valley where they raised their two daughters. Last summer Jim and Lynne celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by their daughters Kristen Eventov and Katy Williams, sons-in-law Adam Eventov and Brad Williams, and grandchildren Madeline Eventov, Ian Eventov, Claire Williams and Cameron Williams. Jim retired from Rocketdyne in 1995 and together, he and Lynne traveled the world, treasured time spent with their children and grandchildren, and their friends in Temecula and Simi. Perhaps his favorite activity was exploring the country in their motorhome, visiting former coworkers, family and friends. In the end, he was able to let his family know how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. While his passing leaves his family and friends saddened, the only regret shared by all who knew him was that we did not have Jim longer. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the family's home on June 29, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 26704 Murrieta Road, Menifee, California, 92585 or to Loma Linda University Medical Center - Murrieta, C/O Administration, 28062 Baxter Road, Murrieta, CA 92563. Please mark your donation ICU. Funds will be used to benefit other patients at LLUMC-Murrieta.
