James Whitt Obituary
JAMES ("Jimmy" or "Jim") SEITZ WHITT Age 72, went to heaven to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 12, 2013. James died unexpectedly in his sleep after a very brief illness at his vacation home at Rancho California RV Resort in Aguanga, CA. He had recently returned from a visit with family and friends near his home in rural Parsons, Kansas. James was born to James Seitz Whitt, Sr. and Rose Eleanor (Trosper) Whitt in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Sunday, January 19, 1941. He attended Tulsa Public School in his childhood years and Independence, Kansas, High School; graduated from Labette Community College (LCC) and then from Pittsburg State University (PSU) with a Bachelor degree in Business and Accounting. Jim was an active Alumni member at both LCC and PSU for many years. James was a long-time resident of Parsons, Kansas. James was the loving husband of Brenda Whitt and was survived by her along with his two brothers, Michael Whitt and Kenny Whitt; one sister, Linda Anderson; one son, Jerry Whitt (Carla) and four step-children: Tiffany M. Robinson, Michelle A. Bayer (Brett), Timothy J. Robinson and Jennifer J. Robinson. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Karolyn Sue (Pool) Whitt, and two children, James Brandon Whitt and Misty Kay Whitt; and one granddaughter, Chloe Robinson. James had five living grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Bryce Whitt, Logan Whitt, Lane Whitt, Ariella Bayer and Cayden Bayer, who lovingly called him "Papa". After graduating from college he briefly lived in Colorado, but then returned to Parsons where he became a successful businessman as manager and then owner of James Shoes, a family shoe store started by his father, James Sr. James was a good man, well liked, a people-person, outgoing, happy and was very dedicated to family and Christ, honest, hard-working and humble. He was very involved in his church and community. He loved Jesus and put Him first. James played the part of "Jesus" in the Rancho Chapel Easter Program and did an outstanding job and was a blessing to all who attended. James had been a long-time member of Four Square Church in Parsons, Kansas, and attended Rancho Chapel in Aguanga, California. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and later a Seafarers Scout, caregiver, member of Kiwanis International, and worked with the Special Olympics. He also served on the Board of Parsons State Hospital and provided birthday parties for handicapped children. He was also a DeMolay and was awarded a Chevalier Degree. James' hobbies included golf, camping, singing, attending Bible studies and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. James ("Jimmy" or "Jim") will be missed by many people, especially his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rancho Chapel on Wednesday, August 7, at 6:00 PM, and again in Parsons, Kansas, later this fall.
