John Brett "Jack" Byrne Obituary
JOHN "JACK" BRETT BYRNE of Riverside, California, died suddenly October 14, 2012 after a brief illness. Formerly of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Westerly, Rhode Island, Mr. Byrne was born in Rochester, New York on April 24, 1919 to Mary Brett Byrne and Frank T. Byrne. He attended Notre Dame University, graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in accounting. Mr. Byrne served in World War II as a glider pilot for the Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater. He was awarded 4 Bronze Service Stars for New Guinea, the Western Pacific, Southern Philippines, and Luzon. He received the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Byrne worked in accounting and sales in New York and Rhode Island, then formed a management consulting firm specializing in helping wholesale nurseries to streamline their operations without sacrificing employees. After retiring, he enjoyed working part time at the Publix Supermarket in Port St. Lucie, FL. This past July, Mr. Byrne and his wife Jean (Meisenzahl) Byrne celebrated 63 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Kathleen Byrne, Lake Arrowhead, CA; John Byrne, Riverside, CA; Loraine Byrne, Matunuck, RI; Margaret Byrne, Wickford, RI; and Juliet Byrne, Tequesta, FL; his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceas-ed by his beloved granddaughter Jennifer Lamphier.
