Vernon C. Newlin Obituary
VERNON C. NEWLIN Devoted family man, Vernon (Vern) Newlin, died suddenly in an auto accident Aug 7, 2013. He was 72 years old. Born in Chicago, IL Nov. 30, 1940 to Ruth Pearl (Bush) Newlin and Vernon R. Newlin, he spent his formative years in the Inland Empire. He found his home in Cherry Valley where he live for the past 40 years. Always ready to give or receive a joke, Vern was the puniest of punsters, but service to family was always his top priority. Vern served in the Marine Corps, receiving good conduct and expert marksman recognition. He was an electrician for most of his working life, first as a construction electrician for 18 years and later working as a maintenance electrician for Redlands Community Hospital, and lastly Desert Regional Medical Center. He was a long time member of the IBEW and the American Legion. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Newlin; son-in-law, Bob Barth; son, Eric Newlin; and granddaughter, Grace Newlin. In March, 2013 he was predeceased by his dear wife of 38 years, Bessie S. Newlin. With her he is survived by her children, Brenda S. Seeley, Shelly R. Dowling, Tommy A. Jarnagan and Michael D. Jarnagan, 17+ grandchildren, and 23+ great grandchildren. Military Honor Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Tues. August 20, 2013. The best way to honor Vern's memory is with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you.
