Aaron Goodman Obituary

CASTLETON - Aaron Goodman, 76, of Castleton died at 1:07 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

Aaron was born on June 20, 1936, in Bonnieville, Ky., the son of Hulen and Alva M. Doyle Goodman. He married Janet A. Stephens on June 7, 1958, in Wyoming. She died April 14, 1998, in Kewanee. He then married Mary Tuttle on Jan. 12, 2000, in Kewanee. She survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Alva Goodman of Castleton, Ill.; one son, David (Connie) Goodman of Castleton; one daughter, Christine (Dave) Hatfield of Toulon; two stepsons; two stepdaughters; one brother, Winford "Wink" Goodman of Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

His father preceded him in death.

Aaron was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Wyoming American Legion Post 91 and the National Rifle Association.

He was a lifelong mechanic and enjoyed restoring American Motor Company Ramblers.

Aaron worked at several different Caterpillar Inc. facilities - the Industrial Division, Big Engine Test; Tech Center; and lastly, Edwards Training and Sales Demonstration.

From 1980 to 1990, Aaron taught evening classes of mechanical power technologies at Blackhawk East Campus as an associate professor, while working full-time at Caterpillar.

Aaron retired from Caterpillar in 1997.

He also participated in the Spoon River Drive and Fall Festivals each year from 1992 through 2011, with small engine displays and Schwinn bicycles either built or restored by Aaron.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Wyoming Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery, with military honors accorded.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming American Legion Post 91.
