MORTON - Adam Lee Johnson, 26, of Mahomet, formerly of Morton, was pronounced dead at 3:48 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, in the emergency room at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

He was born July 9, 1987, in Freeport, Ill., to Victor L. and Becky (Ellingson) Johnson. He married Ludwine Bibina-Moudoki on June 11, 2011, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Becky Johnson (Rodney Klein) of Screven, Ga.; his father and stepmother, Victor and Kimberly Johnson of Washington; his brother, Maxwell (Cara) Johnson of Aurora, Ill.; his sister, Lily Johnson (Derrick Grimm) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his grandparents, Eugene and Donna Ellingson and Gene and Nelda Hilfiker, all of Monroe, Wis.; his aunt, Jenny Hilfiker of Monroe, Wis.; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Vera Johnson.

Adam served with the United States Marine Corps with the Third Battalion First Marine Regiment in Iraq for seven months and in Okinawa, Japan, serving aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. He later served in Afghanistan with the First Intelligence GSP. Adam ended his service training recruits at Camp Pendleton in California during the Crucible phase of boot camp.

He graduated from Morton High School in 2005 and received his associate degree from Palomar College in California. He was currently a student at Parkland Junior College in Urbana.

Adam was a firm believer in organ donation and his family honored his wishes.

Cremation has been accorded. A time of sharing with the family will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Military honors will be conducted following the service. A time of fellowship will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Red Rock Bar & Grill in Morton.
