PRINCEVILLE - Alfred G. Donsbach, 90, of Bradford, formerly of Princeville, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Courtyard Estates of Bradford.
Alf was born May 3, 1924, in Effingham, Ill., the son of William and Mary Brummer Donsbach. He married Betty R. Klepfer on July 2, 1945, in Peoria, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She died Jan. 24, 2007, in Chillicothe.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie (Larry) Shane of Wyoming; one son, Brian (Ellen) Donsbach of Edelstein; daughter-in-law, Bobbe Donsbach of Lewistown, Mont.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Donsbach; three great-grandsons; four brothers; and four sisters.
Alf was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Verona. He received several medals, including three Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the Princeville VFW Gold Star Post 1255 and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Princeville.
Alf was a lifelong farmer in the Princeville area.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Princeville. Father Don Henderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 29, 2014, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Princeville, with recitation of the rosary at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Princeville.
