PEORIA - Anna Margaret Lacy Bergschneider, 96, of Peoria passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, while visiting her daughter in Newport Beach, Calif.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Boonville, Mo., to Cabler Marcellus Lacy and his wife, Rosine Valentina Back Lacy.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 40 years, Dr. Myron Ross Bergchneider.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Roslynn (David) Fey of Newport Beach, Calif.; her son, Dr. Cabler (Mary) Bergschneider of East Peoria; her granddaughter, Hilary d'Lacy Fey of Brentwood, Calif.; and her two grandsons, Christopher (Beth) Bergschneider of Dunlap and Patrick Ross Begschneider of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by her three great-grandsons, Carson, Drew and Eli Bergschneider of Dunlap.
Ann graduated from Stevens College at age 18 and enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Medical Technology. She then earned a master's degree in bacteriology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where, while working toward a Ph.D., she taught bacteriology in both the medical and dental schools and did research to establish a blood bank for the safe storage of blood and blood products. It was at the U of I that she met her future husband, Ross, a student at the University of Illinois School of Dentistry. Ann spent most of the last 50 years of her life working in the dental office of her husband and then her son.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to those who extended their friendship over the years.
