PEORIA - Carolyn Ann Greene Axt, 84, of Peoria died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Hillside Lutheran Village, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Carolyn was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Peoria to Howard and Margaret (Turnbull) Greene. She married Don Axt on Nov. 1, 1958. He survives.
Also surviving are their children, Amy (John) Hanson of Tacoma, Wash., David Axt of Seattle, Wash., and Carla Axt-Pilon of Naperville, Ill.; and four beloved grandchildren, Alice Axt-Pilon and Betsy Pilon of Naperville and Rosemary and Will Hanson of Tacoma, Wash.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Mary Barbara (Richard) Faville; and brother, John Greene.
Carolyn attended Peoria (Central) High School, class of 1947. She was an Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Illinois and graduated with a major in Journalism in 1951.
Upon graduation, Carolyn worked for Thompson Advertising and CILCO.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon and Elder. She was active in the Methodist Hospital Service League, As You Like It Club and Fine Arts Society. She served on the board of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Kickapoo Council of Girl Scouts, Friendship House and Westminster Infant Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with visitation to follow.
