HUDSON - Christopher "Chris" R. Brown, 39, of Hudson passed away at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Advocate BroMenn's emergency room.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Eastview Christian Church in Normal, with the Rev. Ken Graham officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the church, with a firefighters walk-through from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Max and Mason Brown education scholarship fund in care of CEFCU, 2323 E. Empire St., Bloomington, IL 61704.
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Chris was born Nov. 9, 1973, in Hershey, Pa., to Michael R. and Pamela S. (Walters) Brown. He married Amie Melton on June 7, 1997, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Amie of Hudson; two sons, Max and Mason, both at home; his parents; one brother, Anthony M. (Kimberly) Brown of Bloomington; one sister, Jennifer Renee (Frank) Radek of Normal; maternal grandmother, Beverly J. Behnke of Bloomington; paternal grandmother, Barbara L. Kline of Arizona; his in-laws, Robert and Joan Melton of Groveland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Willis W. Walters; paternal grandfather, Jack Brown; and paternal uncle, Dana A. Clark.
He was a 1992 graduate of Charleston High School.
Chris was a 12-year member of the Bloomington Fire Department, where he also was a member of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois Honor Guard. He was a three-year member of the Hudson Community Fire Department. In addition, he was a two-year member of the Peoria Heights Fire Department and a two-year member of the Morton Fire Department.
He was a loving husband and a loving father to his two sons. He took such pride in watching his sons playing in a variety of sports. He was very involved with his sons in scouting and loved fishing and camping.
Chris wore a smile that was infectious to all that met him. He enjoyed playing hockey and was a Blackhawks hockey fan.
