LEWISTOWN - Danny V. Bloyd, 81, of Lewistown passed away at 5:33 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born April 25, 1932, in Lewistown, the son of William and Alice Marie (St. Clair) Bloyd. He married Rose Mary Sizek on Nov. 11, 1955, in Canton.
She survives with two sons, Kenny Bloyd of Canton and Greg (Pam) Bloyd of Lewistown; two daughters, Kathy Burton of Canton and Glenda (Bart) Seward of Lewistown; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Marie Ellis of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Danny graduated from Lewistown High School in 1951, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953.
He worked as a barber for 14 years and later worked as a truck driver for over 25 years before retiring from Air Land Trucking Company.
He was a member of the Canton Assembly of God Church.
He enjoyed baseball, softball, bowling, word and board games. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, University of Illinois Illini fan and Lewistown High School sports fan.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, with the Rev. Greg White officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the memorial home. Cremation will be accorded after the services and interment of ashes will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
