GROVELAND - Lloyd David Mallory, 72, of Groveland died at 9:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Stanford, Ill., to Thomas and Lena (Devine) Mallory.
Surviving are two daughters, Jill (Gary) McCoy of Delavan and Penny Brennan of Plano, Ill.; one son, Jason (Amy) Mallory of Florida; grandchildren, Abbie and Luke McCoy and Megan and Taylor Brennan; and one sister, Lola (Don) Manahan of Mackinaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a wife, Betty (Hoffer) Mallory.
Dave worked 35 years for Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 2001 as a safety inspector at the Mossville Tech Center.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Heart of Illinois Fire Enthusiasts and Collectors.
Dave enjoyed collecting antique furniture and fire toys. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Dave served as a fireman and EMT on the Armington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for 12 years. He later served 18 years on the Morton Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, where he obtained the rank of Assistant Fire Chief and Chief of Rescue.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following services.
Memorials may be made to HOIFEC (for the benefit of the Illinois Central College Fire Science Scholarship Fund and Wheels O' Time Museum for the restoration of antique fire trucks).
