MASON CITY - David Eugene Giehl, 62, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Mason City, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on April 13, 1951, the son of Eugene H. and E. Joann Giehl. He married Patricia Kay Ryan on Sept. 9, 1972, in Mason City, Ill.
David is survived by his parents; wife, Patricia; one son, Brandon Giehl; and one daughter, Stacey Giehl of Murfreesboro, Tenn. Also surviving are one granddaughter, Mackenzie Giehl; several nieces and nephews; two brothers, Mike Giehl of Bradenton, Fla., and Ted (Bethanne) Giehl of Worcester, Mass.; and two sisters, Judy (Don) Smith of San Jose, Ill., and Mary (Mike) Moos of Sherman, Ill.
David was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Dorethy.
David graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and was an electrical engineer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is assisting the family with the arrangements.
