Dean Champlin Obituary

BELLEVUE - Dean "Birdie" Champlin, 82, of 5715 W. Plank Road, Bellevue, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1932, in Canton to Fred and Myrtle Hall Champlin. He married Mary Ann Hinderliter in Peoria on March 24, 1951.

She survives, along with two sons, Tim Champlin of Peoria and Jon Champlin of Bartonville; one grandson, Jon Champlin Jr. of Bellevue; one great-grandson, George Champlin of North Carolina; a niece; a nephew; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two stepbrothers.

Birdie had been the owner of DB Champlin Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1981. He also was a tavern owner for more than 44 years. Currently he was the owner, along with his wife, of Birdie's Bar and Grill in Bellevue.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Hanna City American Legion. He was a Mason and member of the Shrine.

He enjoyed American Motorcycle Association flat-track racing and was an avid bowler and hunter.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
