CREVE COEUR - Delbert R. Liescke, 66, of Creve Coeur passed away at 7:56 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Peoria to Harold and Caroline (Endress) Liescke.

Surviving are three daughters, Angela (Temron) Payne of Washington, Ill., Shelby J. Liescke of Pekin and Stefani (Steve) Coffman of Creve Coeur; two sons, Del "Shannon" (Katie) Liescke of Creve Coeur and Eric (Brenda) Thurman of Topeka; five grandchildren and one sister, Sandra Ridgeley of Morton.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Delbert worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years as a machine operator, retiring in 2004.

He was a big NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed following Dale Earnhardt. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team. He also loved watching dirt track racing at the Peoria Speedway and was fond of his five Chihuahuas.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be provided by the Military Funeral Honors Team and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
