FARMINGTON - Delbert "Del" R. Snyder, 72, of Farmington, Ill., passed away at 11:26 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, Ill.
He was born April 4, 1941, in Galva, Ill., the son of Alden and Mildred (Ball) Snyder. Delbert married Deanna "Dee" Trometer on June 17, 1967, in Peoria. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Also surviving are a brother, Robert (Patsy) Snyder of Peoria; two sisters, Donna (Errol) Brewer of Elmwood and Sylvia Lock of Fairview; sisters-in-law, Carol (Alex) Wilson of Monterey, Calif., Joyce (Tom Cook) Semlow of Shelby Township, Mich., and Ruth Trometer of Charlestown, Mass.; nieces and nephews, Chris (Melea) Snyder of Hanna City, Carmen Snyder of Westminster, Colo., Gary Brewer of Peoria Heights, Valerie (Ken) Pickens of Elmwood, Kurt (Sandy) Brewer of Mundelein, Drinda (Bill) Heiden of Naperville, Kenny (Hope) Lock of Fairview, Norman (Debbie) Lock of Peoria, Tiffany (Franck) Tinti of Lugarno, Switzerland, Beau (Amy) Semlow of Washington, Mich., Jennifer (Brendan) Fehr of Glendale, Calif., and Erin (Ruben) Ruckman of Culver City, Calif.; several great-great-nieces and nephews; plus his longtime family friend, Greg Gilmore of Farmington.
He attended Farmington High School and Western Illinois University.
Delbert worked in Chicago for five years for Associated Life Insurance Co., and then returned to the farm in the Farmington/Canton area for the next 50 years. He loved farming.
He was a member of Canton Elks Lodge 626, the Canton AF&AM Masonic Morning Star Lodge 734, and Mohammed Shriners Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Norris Fire Department, Farmington Fire Department or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
