METAMORA - Donald W. H. Abney Sr., 70, of Metamora passed away at 9:02 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Lewistown, Mont., to Wayne and Frances Farr Abney. He married Janet L. Schroeder on Dec. 7, 1974, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of Absarokee, Mont.; his children, Mark Cox of Hudson, Amber (Patrick) Mulcahy of Kings Mountain, N.C., Todd (Nancy) Cox of Hudson, Timothy (Theresa) Cox of Orlando, Fla., Theresa (Bill) Reed of Eureka, Tracy (Steven) Molendi of Germantown Hills, Donald Abney Jr. of Washburn, Timothy (Amy) Abney of Metamora and Wendy (Robert) DuBois of Metamora; 27 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Larry (Marie) Abney of Bozeman, Mont., and William (Julie) Abney of Helena, Mont.; and his sisters, Judith (Lary) Garrison of Billings, Mont., Janet (David) Blood of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Susan (Martin) Gonsioroski of Baker, Mont.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina; and an infant grandson, Justin.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving his nation in Vietnam.

He was the owner of Abney Accounting for 35 years, currently working for Steven D. Greim & Co., CPA in Peoria.

He served as past president of the Independent Accountants Association. He was co-founder of the Illinois High School Rodeo Association. He was national director of the High School Rodeo Association for 16 years and past national president of the High School Rodeo Association for one year. He competed in the rodeo, riding bulls.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria, where services will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. Dr. Robert Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
