Peoria - James Gordon Bordner, "J.B.," 63, of Peoria passed away peacefully at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria after a long period of debilitating health issues.

He was born July 4, 1950, in Canton to George and Mary Bordner. He married Beverly A. Schaener on Oct. 4, 1974.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Border, and his brother, John.

He leaves behind his wife; mother; two sisters, Susan Norvick and Patty Bordner; sister-in-law, Julie Bordner; and brother-in-law, Bob Norvick. J.B. also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and his three kids (cats), Smokey, Callie and Nitro.

J.B. joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1968 to 1972. He was an electrician by trade, retiring in 2008.

J.B.'s gift to all his family and friends was his deep understanding of life, death, forgiveness, honesty, responsibility, acceptance and gratitude. J.B. was a great metal artist, specializing in birds, cats, flowers, frogs, dogs and angels. If he could dream it, he could make it! J.B. celebrated two years sobriety and smoke free in July, proudly earning his two-year gold coin. He was a witty and funny guy who believed life was a journey, not a battle.
