James Schumacher Obituary

ROANOKE - James Melvin Schumacher, 67, of Roanoke, Ill., passed away at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Ill.

He was born on June 13, 1945, in Pekin, Ill., a son of Melvin and Bessie Anliker Schumacher. He married Leslie K. Woodside on June 8, 1968, in Eureka, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Patrick (Lyn) Schumacher, Mark (Judy) Schumacher, Richard (Jennifer) Schumacher and Jason (Rebecca) Schumacher, all of Roanoke, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Schumacher of Roanoke and Melvin (Jenny) Schumacher Jr. of Metamora; five sisters, Dolores Mosshart of Oklahoma City, Okla., Betty (Bill) Cruikshank of Jacksonville, N.C., Patty Fuller of Sherman, Texas, Dixie (Larry) Vogel of Roanoke and Emily (Ben) Beer of Sun City, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Harriet Pisel; and one infant brother, Richard Lee Schumacher.

An Army veteran, James served his country during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1966.

James worked at Ulrich Manufacturing in Roanoke, Metamora Industries in Metamora, Wayne's Used Parts in El Paso, then, before retiring on Dec. 31, 2012, he worked at Car Quest Parts in Metamora.

James was a member, deacon and treasurer of Averyville Baptist Church in East Peoria, Ill.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Pastor David Coyle will officiate. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded at the grave.
