TREMONT - Joan M. Miller, 86, of Tremont passed away at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born April 24, 1926, in Peoria to Dr. John P. and Opal Petri Blumenschein. She married Ben A. Miller on July 21, 1945, in Reno, Nev., and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Anderson.

Surviving are one son, Dr. John K. (Mary) Miller of Peoria; six grandchildren, Holly (Jeff Reynolds) Anderson, Ben (NaRissa) Anderson, Ryan (Kim) Miller, Sara Miller, and Sarah and Julia Haynes; and three great-grandchildren, Miller, Emma and Paige Reynolds.

Joan was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She was first employed by the Tazewell County Clerk's Office in Pekin and later by the Tremont Savings and Loan Association for many years.

Family was the pride of Joan's life. She also enjoyed gardening and visits with friends, had a deep appreciation of music and was an avid reader. She also took great joy in giving. Her strong faith and warm heart are a lasting inspiration to her family and all who knew her.

She was an active member of Tremont United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was also a soloist in the church choir.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Tremont United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chet Travis will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral, and private burial will take place at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
