PEORIA - LC "Seymore" Riddle, 89, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Heartland Home Health Care.
LC was born on Oct. 14, 1924, in New Albany, Miss., to Lawrence and Florence (Richard) Riddle Sr. He married Christene Dismuke on June 10, 1956.
LC is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Christene Riddle; one son, Lawrence Riddle III of Peoria; three daughters, Patricia Riddle and Jeanette Phillips, both of Peoria, and Victoria (Andrew) Perkins of Douglasville, Ga.; one granddaughter, Alana Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
LC was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He also served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He received a Purple Heart, four overseas service bars, three bronze battle stars, good conduct medals and the World War II Victory Medal.
LC later worked at and retired from Peoria District 150 in 1987, after over 30 years of service.
During his retirement years, LC was an avid golfer and proud member of the Peoria Progressive Golf Club.
He was also a faithful member of Peoria Friendship M.B. Church, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Claude E. Russell Jr. will officiate. LC will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. The U.S. Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team will render military honors.
