BARTONVILLE - Louise Heidler Nelson, mother of a Bartonville man, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems in Morristown, Tenn.
Louise was born in 1924 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois. She was a talented knitter, seamstress, needlepointer and artist, and an avid golfer. She loved volunteering, and was involved with the League of Women Voters, All Saints Church, PEO, Rose Center, United Way, and many other organizations.
She served on the library board in Decatur, Ill.; developed and organized a VolunTeen program in Owensboro, Ky.; and served as student adviser to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at Milliken University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and husband of 51 years, Dwight L. Nelson.
She is survived by Larry and Carol Nelson, Dick Nelson, Katie Nelson, Andy, Bree, Avery and Elliot Nelson and Elizabeth Nelson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at All Saints' Church in Morristown, Tenn. A celebration of life reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at The Morristown Country Club.
